Washington saw a major crypto-focused gathering this week as the inaugural CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee brought together some of the biggest names across digital assets and traditional finance.

The meeting featured major financial institutions including Nasdaq, CME Group, Cboe, NYSE, DTCC and Options Clearing Corporation, showing how deeply traditional finance is now engaging with the crypto industry.

Despite their different backgrounds, participants appeared aligned on one major point: financial rules designed for a different era are no longer enough. The industry is calling for regulations that protect consumers while allowing businesses and new technologies to grow.

The push for regulatory clarity has been building for years. Calls for clearer crypto rules were already being made in 2019, yet the industry continues to operate while waiting for a comprehensive framework that can provide greater certainty.

Now, optimism is growing in Washington. Support from the Trump administration, CFTC leadership and lawmakers pushing digital-asset legislation has created expectations that the United States could finally move toward clearer crypto regulations.

The growing presence of Wall Street giants at crypto policy discussions also highlights a major shift. Crypto is increasingly being discussed alongside established financial markets rather than as a separate, emerging sector.

The message from Washington is clear: the crypto industry and traditional finance want rules built for the future — and the U.S. may be closer than ever to delivering them. 🚨🇺🇸🔥
