Ripple has joined the BLOOM initiative led by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), collaborating with supply chain finance technology company Unloq to explore programmable settlement solutions for global trade finance. The initiative focuses on improving cross-border trade processes through digital settlement infrastructure, tokenized assets, and regulated stablecoins.
The collaboration aims to test how blockchain technology can support automated trade finance workflows. Through Unloq’s SC+ platform, trade conditions, settlement requirements, and financing processes can be connected within a unified system, allowing payments to be triggered when predefined conditions, such as shipment verification, are completed.
Ripple’s participation uses the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and Ripple USD (RLUSD) as part of the pilot’s digital settlement infrastructure. The initiative explores how stablecoins and tokenized financial instruments can support faster and more transparent settlement methods for international commerce.
Singapore has become a key location for testing blockchain-based financial solutions, with regulators and industry participants exploring new models for digital payments, tokenized assets, and trade finance. The BLOOM initiative reflects growing interest in creating efficient settlement systems that connect traditional finance with digital infrastructure.
The development also highlights the potential role of ecosystems such as RealFi, where blockchain technology is focused on connecting digital assets with practical financial applications. Real-world use cases like trade settlement, payments, and financial access are becoming important areas of exploration as institutions evaluate blockchain adoption.
By participating in BLOOM, Ripple is exploring how programmable settlement can address challenges in global trade finance, including slower processing times, complex documentation, and limited transparency between participants. The project represents an effort to examine how digital assets can work alongside existing financial systems.
As the financial industry continues exploring tokenization and blockchain-based settlement, initiatives like BLOOM could provide insights into future applications of digital finance. Ripple’s collaboration with Unloq and participation in Singapore’s initiative demonstrates continued industry experimentation with blockchain solutions for real-world financial processes.
