Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has described 2026 as another “defining year” for the company as Ripple expands its payments, custody, liquidity and treasury businesses.
Garlinghouse’s comments come as Ripple continues building a broader financial infrastructure strategy rather than focusing exclusively on cryptocurrency trading. The company is expanding its presence across several institutional financial services.
A major part of the strategy involves Ripple’s recent acquisitions and investments. The company has been building capabilities in areas including payments, custody, brokerage and treasury management, creating a wider platform for institutional customers.
XRP remains an important part of this strategy. Garlinghouse has said there is a “huge opportunity ahead” and that Ripple is making sure XRP remains at the center of its broader plans.
Ripple is also expanding its international footprint. Garlinghouse and Ripple President Monica Long recently visited offices in London, Dublin, Singapore and Sydney, meeting teams from recently acquired businesses and regional operations.
Artificial intelligence is another area receiving greater attention as Ripple develops its product ecosystem. Reports on Garlinghouse’s 2026 outlook point to deeper AI integration alongside the company’s expansion into institutional financial services.
For XRP, the significance of 2026 will ultimately depend on real-world adoption rather than headlines alone. If Ripple succeeds in expanding institutional payments, custody, liquidity and treasury services, XRP could have more opportunities to play a role within that growing financial infrastructure.
